Absolute Batman #4 Story Summary

Continuing the backstory from Absolute Batman #3, this issue dives deeper into the history of Bruce Wayne and his evolution into the vigilante, Batman.

Readers get a peek at an early version of Batman, who appears to have homemade Wolverine claws. He leaps into a group of thugs and bites them with bat-fangs.

Bruce rethinks his approach after being disappointed with his tactics. He lifts weights and conjures up a plan to stop the flow of guns and drugs into Gotham City from the source. He attacks 18-wheelers loaded with narcotics in a tunnel with a remote-controlled car and punches out the criminals when they stumble out of their destroyed trucks.

The story flashes back to an earlier part of Bruce's life, as a boy, when he built a special bridge inspired by bats and shows his father.

Back in the present, Bruce uses the same engineering ingenuity to create his Batman suit and a variety of weapons.

In between flashbacks, Bruce confronts the man who killed his father in court.

He leaps from a building in the Batman suit and sets the stage for action in Absolute Batman #5.
