Transformers #1 Story Summary
A brand-new Transformers adventure starts right here in the first issue of Transformers from Image Comics and Skybound, part of the "Energon Universe", a shared universe with G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., and even more surprises. Longtime fans of Transformers will know the characters and overall concept, but the plot, the style, and the attitude are all brand-new.
Everyone has problems, especially the new human characters in this Transformers series named Spike, Carly, and Spike's dad, Sparky. Sparky drowns his sorrows in the local watering hole while his son and Carly head to the mountains in a sweet custom van to go stargazing. They both fall into a mine shaft and land in a giant spaceship will with broken robots!
Spike and Carly hide behind a rock and watch as Jetfire feeds the computer, Teletraan One, an Energon Cube to begin reconstructing the robots. Apparently, Jetfire was lost in space and unaware of the events that led up to the war on Cybertron between the Autobots and Decepticons (see Void Rivals #1)
Starscream is the first robot revived, who shows his appreciation by blowing the head off Bumblebee's corpse and then shooting Jetfire in the chest. Optime Prime shows up and bodyslams Starscream. Then Ratchet, Skywarp, Soundwave, and Ravage join the fray, which turns into an all-out explosion-fest.
Before Teletraan One wakes up any more Decepticons, Optimus Prime destroys it, and then escapes with the humans (who did him a solid earlier by sliding his gun to him) and Ratchet. Jetfire is shot out of the sky by Starscream and crashes into a rock quarry.
In search of energy, Starscream attacks the nearby power station where Spike's dad, Sparky, works, and squashes his friend in his giant robot hand while laughing hysterically. So, that's how it's gonna be...
