G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #7 Story Summary
After being captured by Cobra in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #6, the G.I. Team and the Oktober Guard prepare to be machine gunned. Cobra Commander gloats and tells them about his plans (like any good James Bond bad guy would do). Then he drives off in the R.T.V. with the secret Russian spy plan parts.
The Cobra soldiers left behind are about to shoot the Joes and Oktober Guard, but Clutch hid the VAMP's remote control device in his pocket and uses it to remotely control its gun turret. He eliminates the Cobra soldiers with extreme prejudice, thus forcing the Joes and Oktober Guard to form an alliance and work together. One of the Oktober Guard planted a tracking device on the R.T.V., and the Joes and Russians drive off to chase it together.
They enter Iran and quickly defeat the Iranian border patrol, and then discover a secret Cobra base with an enormous mirror-like aircraft hangar structure around it. Cobra Commander, watching all of this on a monitor, shouts and screams, but decides to lure the Joes inside and kill them.
Stalker and the Joes plan to infiltrate the structure, but can't find a doorway, until one mysteriously slides open. A series of Indian Jones-like challenges await the infiltration team as they're nearly crushed by falling walls, electrocuted, and drowned in a flood. Cobra Commander gleefully punished them and even sent live snakes in to attack.
Flash shoots the snakes with lasers, while Stalker tosses a grenade at a squad of Cobra soldiers, blowing them to bits. Finally, they make their way to the center of the structure and find the captured R.T.V., surrounded by the Oktober Guard!
Cobra Commander shows up and turns all guns on both teams and gloats again, like usual, until Clutch, dressed as a Cobra soldier, grabs him in a necklock from behind. The Oktober Guard decides to shoot Cobra Commander rather than negotiate with Clutch, and finds out that the Commander is actually a robotic doppleganger with a speaker inside his head!
The Joes take this opportunity to take the VAMP and R.T.V. and flee the compound, leaving the Oktober Guard behind to deal with Cobra.
When they get back home, Hawk informs them that the real spy plane was already smuggled out of Afghanistan, and their entire operation was a decoy. Stalker looks none too pleased with him...
