G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #324 Story Summary
Flying the G.I. Joe Sky Raven, Ace approaches an unidentified object orbiting Earth. Duke, Mainframe, and Stalker monitor from the Pit as images sent by Ace reveal a strange space station, which could be a control device working with the Terror Dromes that are popping up all over the world.
The Joes suspect that the Revanche Androids could be involved, and of course, they are correct. Alpha-001 is pleased that the G.I. Joe team observed their space station, and sets its plans in motion....
Meanwhile, the Joes prepare to launch one of the greatest plastic 1980s toy playsets ever created, the G.I. Joe Defiant! Hardtop, Payload, Countdown, Sci-Fi, and Lady Jaye prepare for action as the massive Space Shuttle-like ship takes off and breaks free from Earth's gravity on its way to investigate the mysterious, orbiting space station. The androids monitor the watch and expect company, as cinematic scenes of the Defiant's launch play out like 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Once it is within range, lasers shower the Defiant from the Revanche space station, nearly destroying it. Payload spins the craft, flies in close, and drops off Lady Jaye and Sci Fi, who blast their way inside and trade laser gun fire with the android inside like a scene straight out of Moonraker.
After being riddled with gunfire, the android draws a laser sword and cuts Sci-Fi loose, who drifts into space. Lady Jay, still attached to the shuttle, saves him as the now-damaged space station breaks up and falls into the atmosphere.
The Joes, who now fight for freedom over land, air, and in outer space, victoriously fly back to earth as the android space station burns up and explodes. Unfortunately, they failed to notice the real danger orbiting Earth, the cloaked Terror Drome Control Satellite X-03, which is fully functional and still completely undiscovered, even after they lured the Joes nearby.
Alpha-001 is pleased.
