G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #10 Story Summary

The Joes plan to infiltrate a Cobra operation in a high-rise in the middle of New York City, but Cobra is waiting for them. While preparing to enter from the roof, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, and Zap are caught in a trap and dropped into a holding area.

Hawk and Clutch drive a van through their building's front door, and Stalker, Breaker, and Grunt enter from the sewer. They race to get to their imprisoned teammates, but then the top of the Cobra building lifts off like a spaceship and flies away, with Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, and Zap trapped inside. The captive Joes are gassed and put to sleep.

When Scarlett wakes up, she finds herself watching bats as Cobra feeds her hallucinogenic drugs. Snake-Eyes, who is in a different location, is hooked up to a brain-wave reader by Dr. Venom, the Baroness, and Cobra Commander. Dr. Venom explains that read Snake-Eyes' mind and discover the secret location of G.I. Joe headquarters! Dr. Venom unlocks parts of Snake-Eyes' memory and takes a trip through his past. Snake-Eyes tries to control the memories and shows only bad ones, like his helicopter exploding in Vietnam.

A kid in the cell with Zap and Scarlett figured out how to reduce the potency of the drugs, which were in the water, with a light bulb. He then enlists the Joes to help escape. The next time the Cobra guards show up, the Joes bash them on the head and break out, then slip into Cobra uniforms. When they escape their prison complex, they find themselves in an entire Cobra town called Springfield. The buildings are fronts for Cobra operations, and the inhabitants are Cobra soldiers and sympathisers.

They steal a car and drive to Dr. Venom's laboratory, which is beneath Springfield's awesome video arcade called Video World. Scarlett, Zap, and the kid are spotted in the arcade by Cobra junior officers, and they turn one of the arcade games, which is a giant laser cannon, on them and fire! Meanwhile, Snake-Eyes uses his ninja skills to slow his heartbeat down and appear dead.

Dr. Venom unhooks the dead Snake-Eyes from the brainwave scanner, but surprise, he's not dead! Snake-Eyes kicks his ass and shoots up the arcade to save his teammates. Then, Scarlett, Zap, and Snake-Eyes race to the airport where they steal the Cobra "spaceship" thing. The kid decides to stay in Springfield.

After takeoff, the pilot tries to shoot Snake-Eyes, which ends poorly for him, and also the cockpit of the ship. Flying blind, they make their way to New York City and parachute out to fight another day in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #11.
