Transformers #5 (Image Comics, 2024)
Transformers #5 (February 2024), published by Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment. The Autobots and Constructions continue to wage war over Energon as each side slowly rebuilds its forces. Optimus, armed with the Megatron gun, dispenses death and destruction to Reflector and Frenzy, but Starscream has an ace up his sleeve called Devastator.
Transformers #5 Story Summary
After his son is injured and hospitalized in Transformers #4, Sparky and Optimus Prime share a moment discussing the futility of war.
Meanwhile, Starscream and Soundwave plug Skywarp into Teletraan-1 against his will and continue rebuilding the Decepticon forces. Thundercracker, Frenzy, and Reflector rejoin their team. Laserbeak reports back that the Autobots are harvesting power from the dam. Starscream leads the Decepticons on a "violence party" to stop them.
At the nearby dam, Ratchet and Wheeljack construct a similar device to create Energon and rebuild their damaged forces, starting with Arcee. While she wakes, the Decepticons attack from above. Optimus Prime vaporizes the camera Transformer, Reflector, with a well-placed shot from Megatron's gun arm (that he equipped in the previous issue). He then grips Frenzy by the foot and smashes him into the ground.
Carly is knocked from the dam and falls, but Arcee transforms into a sports car and saves her, while Rumble attacks Cluffjumper and Jazz, in turn, blasts the cassette robot at point-blank range, sparing his friend. Optimus Prime and Starscream fight until Optimus shoots him with the Megatron gun, causing the Decepticons to cry and retreat.
Optimus advances and directs the Autobots to retake the Ark. Carly wants to come with them, but he refuses, so Cliffjumper sneaks her into his cockpit. They seem to have the advantage until learning that Starscream lured them into a trap filled with five super-awesome green construction vehicle robots.
The Constructicons merge to form Devastator.
