Godzilla Kai-Sei Era #1 (IDW, 2025)

The story starts in an alternate history of Earth, when Godzilla is created in 1954 after a weapons test awakens a slumbering beast.

Fast forward to today (but not today), when Kaiju attack cities around the world. Godzilla is regarded as the strongest of the bunch because of his seemingly unlimited supply of Kai-Sei Energy, or "Big Lizard Juice."

Meet G-Force USA, a team that fights kaiju. Team members include Dr. Rumi Chiba, Nuki, Incense, Jet Jaguar, and Riviera.

Godzilla attacks New York and blasts a school, including a teenager who miraculously survives Godzilla's heat ray. The kid's name is Jacen Braid.... G-Force's newest recruit!

Anguirus rises out of the Gulf of Mexico, and G-Force USA is called into action. They leap out of a plane and start to attack Anguirus (which demonstrates each of their powers, of course). Nuki fires a big gun, Incense shoots fire, and Rumi is telepathic. They easily chase the kaiju away, but Rumi senses that something isn't right.

While on a post-celebration boat ride, Rumi and Jacen feel Anguirus is dying, and Jacen goes overboard, seeing strange, terrible visions of a new monster...
