Transformers Universe here on 80sComics.com. The first collector's item issue in a very fun series. This is like G.I. Joe Order of Battle but with Transformers. Basically just a guide to all of the toys that you want that your parents won't buy you. It's actually a really good book. It's a catalog but a great fun read for fans of Transformers. Let's open it up. And start with Air Raid. Here's the table of contents. It goes alphabetically. There's four of these.

Four of these issues. Years ago I reviewed the fourth one, so apparently now, like nearly a decade later, I'll go back and review the first one. Here's the people who made it.

And Air Raid's not really one of my favorites, but Astro Train is. Who doesn't love a robot that transforms into the space shuttle and a locomotive. He's also featured prominently in Transformers the movie, which is like one of my favorite movies. Astro Train. There's Blaster. It was pretty lame compared to Soundwave, but you know, he transforms into a boombox. That's not all bad. Blitzwing.

Another Transformer that transformed into three things, a robot, a tank, and an airplane. He was in one of the Transformers video games, played a while back. Blitzwingers, Bombshell, Bluestreak's good. Dodson Z, gotta love Bluestreak. Don't remember his personality very well, but I do remember they transformed into a Z. Bronz sucks, nobody likes Bronz. I don't even remember Breakdown. Bruticus, Broadside. Did anyone have Broadside. Did they make a toy out of that thing.

Aircraft. It just reminds me of the GI Joe aircraft carrier which my parents would absolutely not buy me so in order to have a GI Joe aircraft carrier I actually used ingenuity and a block of wood and made one myself. Buzzsaw. I'm not even going to speak. We're just gonna cut that asshole out the shot completely. I hate Bumblebee. But I love Buzzsaw. Buzzsaw has a tremendous ego.

If one of his carefully planned operations should go astray, ruining what he considers a work of art in progress, he will often stop and sulk rather than improvise and proceed. He also has amazing stereo sound.

Can't say I remember Cosmos.

Else we got here. Oh, Devastator. Devastator's pretty awesome.

Fear sucks. Oh, Grimlock. Who doesn't love Grimlock. He's an idiot, but he's a likable idiot. And he transforms into a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The most fearsome and powerful of the Dinobots. Does he have any weaknesses. Other than arrogance and a lack of speed and the fact that he's a complete moron, Grimlock has no significant weaknesses. The fact that you're a moron is actually kind of a weakness, but...

I guess in some cases if you're like trying to run into laser fire or smash down a building or attack Devastator with your eyes shut, stupidity does work in your advantage. Grapple, don't remember grapple. this is like one of those crappy cheap Transformers. You go to someone's party and they give you like a Transformer as a party favor except it'd be one of these crappy cheap ones and you'd just lose it. Where's Shockwave, damn it. I Shockwave's name is not alphabetically in this book.

Well. It's a great issue. Transformers universe, number one. Despite the fact that the lamest Transformer of all is on the cover. mean, Bumblebee is basically Jar Jar of the Transformers. His weakness. He sucks. That's Bumblebee's primary weakness. He...

Bumblebee. Bumblebee versus Snarf. Honestly, if you gave Snarf a chainsaw, I'm putting money on Snarf. He could take Bumblebee.

Especially if orco helps. If you like Transformers and you want to learn about all of their weaknesses and other things, then I highly recommend the Transformers Universe series of comics including issue number one, what year was this. Right at the end of 1986, the peak of the Transformers popularity, 80sComics.com. See you next time.
