Welcome back to 80s Comics Pro where we are going to take a trip way back to 1981 for The Warlord issue number 46. What happens when Travis Morgan dies and meets Death. And Death is a fifty foot tall half naked woman wearing a metal skull bikini drawn by Mike Grell. Well, it is pretty par for the course for The Warlord. Just another average day, really. The Warlord 46.

Enter the Lost World of the Warlord from June of 1981, issue number 46, X Be My Destiny with extra OMAC. That is not exciting, but the rest of this is. It is a great read, but I will advise you to read it as slowly as possible because it is really short. This is the page that gives you the most panels in fact. I love the storytelling here as Morgan is searching for his daughter Jennifer who is lost in Scartaris.

Travis Morgan’s Adventure Begins Mark B

North to the land of shadow surely. She would not for a brief span. Anton watches as this legend among warriors puts spur to his great warhorse. Strange, he muses, how the fates have conspired to keep this one man from happiness. He is dead wrong. Travis Morgan is having a great time. Have you not read this series. It is awesome. Look as he is wandering around the wasteland. It is a dinosaur.

Just an average day for the Warlord. And what do you do when you see a dinosaur. You shoot it in the head with your forty four Magnum, obviously. That is what the Warlord does, except this time he does not fire fast enough. And he is killed or knocked out or something. Seriously injured. And he wakes up and finds Lady Death, who has quite the get up there. Where do you buy that. Maybe she has to have it custom made. But she is not going to take Travis Morgan’s life. She likes Morgan.

She is going to take Shakira. So it is written Morgan, so shall it be done. She is going to take Shakira, the transforming cat girl, and bring her to the land of the dead.

Morgan follows her. This is such a ridiculous issue. It reminds me of one of those old Ray Harryhausen movies, which is a good thing. Here we have Superman hawking Twinkies, also a good thing. As Travis Morgan encounters a number of the characters he has killed in earlier issues. He chases after Asriel. She looks like a demented Wonder Woman. Also a compliment. Great artwork and storytelling in this issue, but it is just so short. That is why you have to read it really slowly.

It is like a forty five second read if you avoid the ads. Read all the chain mail. You have to get every penny’s worth out of this one. Morgan does actually save her. I want you to read it so you see how, but we are not sure if it was real or just a dream. It was probably real. He had to make a sacrifice though. I am not going to tell you what the sacrifice is, but it was very sacrificial. And then you get OMAC.

Oh man, I just cannot get into OMAC. After reading the awesomeness of The Warlord, it really puts on the brakes. The Warlord is so easy on the eyes and easy to read. A little too easy, it just goes so fast. So read it twice, three times. Make sure you read all the details here. Full remittance must accompany order. Send check or money order, not cash. The Warlord’s Unique Style and Recommendations Mark B

Read every bit of it. 1981 Continental Baking Company. We do get this nice random tentacle trying to grab Travis Morgan through the door. I like that part. And I love The Warlord. More style than substance. Easy on the eyes and incredibly easy to read, but a lot of fun. Imaginative. Grell’s artwork is terrific. And I love his storytelling and the goofy outlandish sci fi style. I highly recommend that you pick up a whole bunch of these in sequence because they all tell one giant story. And it is a lot of fun. The Warlord, highly recommended by 80s Comics. As you know, I love The Warlord series. It is such fun sci fi fantasy adventure. It is so over the top and ridiculous. And Mike Grell’s artwork and storytelling are really good, but sadly once they started adding these secondary comic books to each of the Warlord issues, I guess Mike Grell must have gotten really busy.

So the comics are really short and then you get stuck with something that is ultimately disappointing like OMAC. I do not even want to read OMAC. But I do want to point out this baseball card here in the back. That dude’s hair is awesome. Look at that. I have no idea who that is. I do not know anything about baseball. But you have to respect the throw that comes out from the side of the hat. That is legit. And so is The Warlord.

See you soon here in 80s Comics. You have to read this series.
