G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #301 (November 2023) - G.I. Joe returns with a new publisher, but the same long-time writer. After nearly 40 years, Mr. Larry Hama is back to send the Joes into complete chaos as Serpentor plans to use the Mutant Virus Bomb on Cobra Casino, while the Whale tries to escape, and Wild Bill is about to crash a C-130. Serpentor is a dick, Dr. Mindbender is a pussy, and Cutter looks more like Magnum P.I. every day.

G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #301 Story Summary
What started in 1982 with Marvel Comics now continues in 2023 with Image Comics. Issue 301, which features a gorgeous cover design by Andy Kubert, begins with a brief introduction for new readers who may be unfamiliar with the Joes and their arch nemesis, Cobra. After we learn who the good guys and bad guys are, Hama and team drop readers (literally) into the middle of the action.
It's not completely necessary to know what led up to these events, but Wild Bill and Duke are about to crash a C-130 on top of a G.I. Joe strike team that is about to invade Cobra Casino. The Joes retreat, which is probably just as well because Serpentor and Dr. Mindbender are minutes away from "nuking" the place with a Mutant Virus Bomb that turns everyone into monsters.
On their way out, the Joes end up dodging missiles launched from a boat filled with Revanche androids. Cobra Commander, who was held prisoner on the Whale, escapes on a jet ski. Alpha-001 plots and schemes.
The bomb goes off, turning everyone left on the island into hideous mutants. Even though the Joes escape, one of the team members is killed in action.
