Conan the Barbarian #47 Story Summary

After saving the beautiful Stefanya from a crazed mob who tried to burn her alive, and a terrible monster called Shokkoth in Conan the Barbarian #46, he discovers that her sorcerer friend, Zoqquanor, is dead, although she claims that he is very much alive. He must continue on his mission to deliver the Amulet of Blue Fire to the Regent of Phalkar. Stefanya demands that they bring Zoqquanor along. With a wink of her eye, she makes Conan an offer he can't refuse.

Before they leave under the cover of darkness, Conan spots a birthmark on her hip as Stefanya changes into what looks like a 1970s go-go dancer outfit straight out of a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. He thinks little of it as the three of them move out, Zoqquanor being dragged on a litter behind the horse.

Hours later, Conan nearly falls asleep on his horse and decides to camp for the night by mysterious ruins (does he ever learn not to camp by mysterious ruins?)

In the middle of the night, Stefanya wakes Conan, who sees the wizard that he propped up against a column, glowing in the moonlight, while a horde of obscene dwarf-like monsters approach. Conan leaps into action, hacking, slashing, and stabbing his way through the weird army of green imps, but they do not bleed!

After winning the battle, Stefanya kisses Conan and the two of them, with the "unconscious" wizard in tow, continue on their way...

The issue is then cut short on page 15, and readers are treated to a short story called "Sanctuary" by Wally Wood.

The "Letters Section" posts an explanation for the short story. In the middle of production, a number of the later pages of Conan #47 were completed by John Buscema, but were lost in the mail! Those of us reading these issues in the future can sympathise.
