Daily Comic Book Mission #048: Lobo (2026) #2

Daily Comic Book Mission #48 Lobo #2 (2026) - Recorded 4/20/2026

Lobo #2 (June 2026), published by DC Comics, titled "That's Fraggin' Showbiz". Lobo stars in his very own reality TV show, where he collects bounties, but more often than not, manages to kill everyone while not following the script. The company executives are outraged by low ratings, but fail to account for Lobo's resistance to criticism and his thirst for violence and gore.

Daily Comic Book Mission #048 Transcription

Welcome back to your daily comic book mission, or at least mostly daily. Sometimes I get a little busy, but today I’m bringing you a very exciting mandatory reading assignment. Lobo issue number two, but not the 1990 Lobo. This is the 2026 Lobo, brand new as of this recording from DC Comics. Lobo is back and he’s bringing all of the chaos, mass murder, violence, gore, and one-liners with him.

So that’s good, because that’s why we like Lobo. Lobo’s the anti-hero, and he never really got one big long-running comic book series. He was in a whole bunch of limited series or other issues or whatever, but maybe this is going to be his chance to shine.

On behalf of Mr. Kzzt and Omni Omega Plus Entertainment Corp, welcome to your official makeover, because Lobo is going to be a reality TV star. And yes, this is making fun of reality TV, which is complete and absolute garbage and should be destroyed, so hopefully Lobo can destroy it and will never have to be plagued with reality TV or influencers ever again.

This starts off with Lobo getting a haircut, and of course he ends up killing the barber because that’s what Lobo does. He punches his teeth out or stuffs his guts into his mouth. I can’t really tell.

The art style is a lot of fun. I did a video review of the first issue, so you should check that out. I think a lot of us remember Lobo illustrated by Simon Bisley, the amazing Simon Bisley. He doesn’t do this series, but this is done by, if I’m saying his name correctly, Jorge Corona, who did some of the Transformers issues for the Energon Universe, and he’s awesome.

He does a really nice job with Lobo, and the color work is really good too. The writing is hilarious. This is funny. This is worth reading. If you liked the original Lobo, I suspect you’ll probably enjoy this, as Lobo’s being followed by floating cameras everywhere.

It’s like a bounty hunter reality TV show, and he’s got to go collect these bounties or whatever. And of course he just starts blowing things up and killing all of them, and the network executives are screaming at him because he’s not following the script.

There’s page after page of him mutilating all of his bounties instead of just taking them in and killing people in the process. He gets hauled into a boardroom, and one thing leads to another and he ends up fighting Aquaman to get big ratings. So if you ever wanted to see Lobo fight Aquaman in the most violent, gory way possible, this is the issue for you.

Now how does the Aquaman battle end up? I’m not going to tell you who wins. I’m going to tell you that you should read this. If you think it sounds good and if you liked the original Lobo series, you’re going to love this.

It’s not as good as the Simon Bisley ones, but I’d say it’s about as good as it could be without Simon Bisley, to be honest. It’s really good. There’s a lot of subtle detail in the background. Corona puts in all these little things, and you have to pay attention.

The one network executive has all these screens all over him, and you’ve got to watch what’s on them. There are bodies in the background, blood everywhere. This is my kind of jam right here. Lobo issue number two, and it’s also your kind of jam because I’m telling you that it is.

It may be a daily comic book mission, but really it’s your mandatory reading assignment or else. Or else Lobo will throw you out of a window. Pizza will take out for you.

That’s what’s going to happen. See you next time on ComicBook.Beer. Hopefully tomorrow. Or maybe even yesterday.
