Sectaurs #1 Story Summary

Somewhere in space, somewhen in time, there is a planet of highly evolved insects called Symbion! Marvel Comics presents the first issue of the Sectaurs: Warriors of Symbion comic book series based on the ultra-cool line of toys produced by Hasbro in the mid-1980s.

The first appearance of the Sectaurs in their short-lived comics series starts in the city of Synax, the capital of the dark domain. Slaves toil away for the dread Empress Devoria and yearn for a happier life in the Shining Realm. Empress Devora sent General Spidrax and Commander Waspax to invade the border realms, which violates a peace treaty.

Meanwhile, Pinsor joins his brother for dinner in a peaceful border town in the Shining Realm. His brother asks for help, fearing an invasion, an invasion that occurs during dinner! Sting Troopers attack and slay the good insect-people of the Shining Realm. Pinsor fights bravely as he is tele-bonded to his Battle Beetle. He kills many a foe, but his brother falls and asks that Pinsor flee to Prosperon and seek help from Regent Galken.

Sectaurs #1 is the first appearance of good guys Dargon and his Sectaur, Dragonflyer, and also the first appearance of Zak and Bitaur, and Gnatseye and Jumpyr. The good Sectaurs are training by battling a giant Venipede in the Shining Realm. After the battle, the good sectaurs head to quaff a flagon of nectar at Stellara's Pub.

At that same time, a strange heretic in the town conquered by Spidrax teleports himself into a mountain to discover the Lost Hyves of the Ancients. Before he can summon help, he is confronted by the enemy Skulk and his insect, Trancula. After capturing the heretic, the bad Sectaurs investigate the mysterious structure, which contains computers and secrets that supposedly could control the weather. They activate it, which unleashes terrible storms around the planet and a strange red mist.

The good Sectaur, Mantys, knows of the Hyves and fears that the Dark Domain unleashed the terrible, destructive storms. They are summoned to the Council of Kings. Politics come into play, and Regent Galken refuses to hear talk about the ancient Great Cataclysm. He believes it is the work of heretics. Mantys knows that the ancients used science and machines to control the weather, and shows Prince Dargon his room full of artifacts.

Mantys tells Dargon that his father, King Markor, trusted him to be a counselor in search of the truth. He passes that torch (sword) to Dargon to continue the search.

Empress Devora of the Dark Domain also seeks the truth. She sends her minions out in search of more Hyves so that she can rule all of Symbion with their weather-controlling power!
